Since 2010, blogger and YouTube sensation Rachel Martino has been sharing her favorite beauty products and fashion finds to a dedicated fan base through RachMartino.com and her YouTube channel RachMartino. A southern transplant living in Brooklyn, NY, Rachel works for the Estée Lauder Companies (Aveda’s parent company) during the day and spends her free time dedicated to offering her fans fresh, approachable looks that are easy to recreate and represent the everyday girl that just wants to get a little glam.
Recently Aveda invited Rachel to the Aveda Academy in New York City to meet with three other Beauty YouTubers as well as Tippi Shorter, Aveda Global Artistic Director for Textured Hair, to talk about new Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight. The girls bonded while Tippi shared her insider tips and tricks on mastering gorgeous straight styles for all hair textures. Each Beauty YouTuber was then able to see first-hand what Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight can do for their own locks as Tippi treated each girl to her own Naturally Straight experience.
On Living Aveda, we learn more about the featured Beauty YouTubers as they share their thoughts on going Naturally Straight. Here, Rachel shares her insights:
What were you expecting with the Aveda Naturally Straight experience?
Rachel: I’m a big fan of Aveda already so I was really excited and I was interested to see what the product would do for my hair texture because I have wavy hair that sometimes get frizzy. I thought the end results were great! The product smells great and I didn’t feel like I was putting harmful ingredients in my hair. I loved the way my hair looked and it kept it totally straight until I washed it again.
Did you enjoy working with Tippi?
Rachel: Having Tippi do my hair was such a great pleasure! She was super informative and explained really well how the products work, what the benefits were in a way we could really all understand and relate to, which was awesome.
Did you bond or learn from the other Beauty YouTubers?
Rachel: I loved meeting the girls because they each had their own hair textures. It’s always great to interact with people who have a difference in hair texture than mine and to hear about their day-to-day routine because it’s so important when you have a channel to really understand all types of hair to better be able to speak to your audience.
Does your hair influence your fashion choices or vice versa?
Rachel: Certain looks really lend themselves to a super straight hairstyle. When I find a great fashion look I can try it with straight hair and get a whole different vibe. Something as simple as a little black dress can be so different if you wear it with curly hair or straight hair. It’s great to have that versatility when creating content and it’s nice to have a product that will do a really good job to create that straight look.

Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight launched on June 1 and has already received wonderful reviews from our guests, such as the following:
“I’m using this conditioner along with the shampoo and the combination is great. The products do what they say. My hair is soft, manageable and not at all frizzy. It has reduced the curliness which I wanted resulting in smooth shiny hair. A little of this goes a long way too. Has a great lemony-vanilla scent – reminds me of lemon meringue pie.“
